Fondasyon Mapou is non-profit corporation of the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area founded in 2004.
Fondasyon Mapou was formed by a group of concerned Haitians in response to the crisis that lead to the United States, France and Canada intervention in Haiti; we believe that the international community’s action violated the Haitian Constitution and destabilized a nascent democratic process. However the concept to create an organization that seek to change the current Haitian social structure, which engenders a gap in education, promotes economic disparity, consents to disempowerment of the majority of Haitians, had been in the work since 1990.
Fondasyon Mapou works with Haitians at home and abroad, alongside the true friends of Haiti to empower Haitians with skill and knowledge necessary to determine their own future. At present, Fondasyon Mapou serves as a
center of information providing in-depth analysis on the situation in Haiti to lawmakers, the media, the Haitian solidarity movement, and religious communities. FM is enabling underprivileged children to obtain an
education, establishing network in the US for our partners in Haiti, and many more.
